Petroleum Refining

Petroleum refining is a complex process that turns crude oil into a variety of products including fuels, heating oil, lubricants, and feedstocks for petrochemical industries. A refining facility has several major process units; generally, the process description starts with crude oil being thermally processed at the Crude Unit to separate the oil into intermediate constituents. The heavier hydrocarbon streams flow to further separation units such as Distillation and Catalytic or Hydro Cracking Units while the lighter streams flows to conversion and/or treatment units. Conversion units may include Cracking, Reforming, Alkylation, Isomerization, Polymerization, and Coking. Treatment units include Desulfurization, Hydrotreating, chemical sweetening, acid gas removal, oxidation, and proprietary blending. Auxiliary facilities/units such as steam boilers, wastewater treatment, hydrogen synthesis, sulfur recovery, flares, scrubbers, and electrostatic precipitators are necessary to provide process support and pollution control.

Teledyne systems provide efficient, effective, and reliable support, data storage, and reporting for the refining process and source emissions.
